You thought ward hoops were contentious? Try ward olympics.
My ward held several silly events like three-legged races, and I never saw so much pushing, shoving and yelling in a cultural hall. The most poorly thought-out event was "speed skating," where we duct-taped paper plates to our shoe soles and slid around the floor. Sometimes the front of a shoe would slip out of a poorly taped plate and its traction would bring the racer's momentum to a halt, as he fell on his face. Not to mention the girls getting elbowed out of their way.

Speaking of physical play -
A few friends and I were banned from a local skating rink when we were sophs or so in high school. It seemed that some patrons didn't appreciate the competitive beauty that is roller derby.
