When does the new book of the month start?
And do we know what it is yet?

we can take nominations.
Certainly I think that Bushman's biography of Joseph Smith should be one of the books considered. |

So is this one of those clubs that only reads church related books?
My wife organized a book club with the strong recommendation that they would not read church related books ... all of the woman agreed and the club has been a huge success. Many husbands (I was not jealous, only happy to see my wife get out of the house and away from the yard apes) became very jealous and decided to organize their own book club. The club started off great, the first selection was the Adventures of Cavalier and Clay (very good book) 800 pages later and at our first meeting I discovered I and one other fellow were the only two to read it … in came the strong recommendation to read church books! The wives continue to meet and have a great time reading great books. The men no longer read books and meet periodically to play video games. I am wary of book clubs … especially those that mostly read church related books. Besides I am working on my MFA and all of my time is now spent reading Art history articles Weeeeeeeee! |

as I'm sure you are aware tooblue, the genesis for this forum was the restrictive policies on CB regarding religious discussions. So I think that is why the religious book of the month came up. Plus many of us have an interest, but have never really read much in that way.
I am open to taking it in any direction. I bet that we might run out of decent material religion-wise anyway. |

we can recommend anything
however, given limited time devoted to reading, it wouldn't hurt me to read Church related books, if the group is interested.
If it's literature related, let's pick some good stuff; not too much artsy fartsy stuff. I like very much the McKay book, as it sheds interesting lights on leadership. Makes them more human, more real.
