Link?

I appreciate your 20/20 hindsight, SU. You are just SO smart!

Heh. That doesn't say the voted for him "because of his family's history in Michigan." Nice try at spin, SU.

From the AP:

"Romney, who grew up in Michigan and whose father was a popular governor, got a big boost from the four in 10 who said his background in the state helped decide their vote, according to an exit poll conducted for The Associated Press and the television networks. Fifty-eight percent voted for Romney, overcoming the big lead McCain had with those who said Romney's state ties didn't matter much."

I helped my son with his math last night and they are working on percentages, so I think I can do this for you.
  • Four in ten said Romney's background in Michigan helped decide their vote = 40% or .4 of those voting.
  • Fifty-eight percent of those said they voted for Romney = 58% or .58 of those saying Romney's background in Michigan impacted their vote.
The equation goes like this:

.58 * .4 = .232 or 23%

Hence, 23 percent of those voting said that Romney's background in Michigan affected their decision to vote for him. It wasn't the only factor, it was one factor.

That also means that 17 percent of those voting said that Romney's background in Michigan affected their decision not to vote for him.

Romney's Michigan roots gave him a 6 percent net advantage.

Fuzzy math.

I'd wager SeattleUte knows this, but is still stinging from his NH "Romney is finished" comments.
