Doctrine never changes?

Was it okay to bow to public opinion because it was racism and wrong? Or did they just go against God's will because they'd rather be liked than obey his will? Or did God himself yield to "socal activism?"

Come now SU, you can't assert on the one hand that the LDS church doesn't actually have doctrine and on the other say it changed its doctrine, right? ;-)

I'm more of latter opinion. I don't go so far as saying that there is no doctrine, I just think that is very hard to put your finger on in many cases, leaving a vast gray area.

I also take the 9th article of faith to mean that just about anything could be changed.

I do give the church credit for changing this though, whatever the reason.
