Marlin rifles
I bought a Marlin 60 (.22) about three weeks ago, to plink with the scouts.
I cleaned it, and bent the recoil spring in the process. If you have ever dissembled one of these, you will know that it is pretty easy to do. I took it out, and it jammed several times. I called them up, and they are sending me a new recoil spring. Which is nice. Good company. |

How does it compare to the Ruger 10/22? My favorite is my dads old winchester pump 22 and he has a lever one also. Fun guns.

Not sure how it compares. Except that I know it is much cheaper.

My dad's got a lever-action Marlin 30-30 that's about 40 years old. A great gun. Apparently, back in the wild west days, the lever-action Marlin was considered superior to the Winchester because the Winchester shells were ejected from the top, hitting the shooter in the face and making it tough to fit a scope; the Marlin's eject from the side.

I have a ruger 10/22 with a 4x scope that I got for my birthday as a kid one year. It is a beautiful gun and I have had many good days with it, alhtough not for a few decades.

I like lever actions, but they are inherently inaccurate.

I love my Ruger 10/22 that I use to plink cans with. The only reason I chose it over the Marlin is that I prefer a magazine feed instead of a tube feed. Plus there are just a million options out there for the Ruger. When I have a few bucks to blow I plan on throwing on a heavy barrel and a competition shooting stock. The Marlin is nice.

You should've gotten a Ruger 10/22. It's worth the little extra you'd pay for it.
