The Second Amendment has a sound basis, and is part of our tradition. Without Constitutional Amendment the control freaks won't be able to take that away. I've never researched whether gun ownership is part of libertarianism, but it should be.
This aspect that we should trust government to protect us, trust government to educate our children, trust government to provide us "free" health care, that we should trust government to take care of us from the cradle to the grave sounds a lot like a substitute faith. In that case, I'd prefer the atheism of the street to a faith in a mindless bureaucracy. Blade Runner set him free.
