Kite day for my ward
coming up. I have bought a kit to take pictures from my kite. My dad is making a kite train of maybe up to 20 kites. I have bought 100# and 200# test line.
It's going to be fun. At least for me. |

I just bought a cool nylon kite at Costco today. It is a large parrot.
This doesn't sound as cool or as sophisticated as your set-up. Fortunately, my kids dont know the difference, either, so they are excited either way. The kite was $10.

I bought a nylon "3-D" kite that is a clown fish "little nemo" for like $10.
It doesn't fly particuarly well, so I'm not a big fan of it. I have a homemade diamond kite made with bent wood and a garbage bag and rags for a tail, and I like it. Except my brother-in-law carelessly messed it up. My homemade box kite needs to be repaired ever since I got it caught in a tree and got it down with fishing line tied to a rock. My dad helped me put together the Rokkaku kite I got for Christmas, so I need to take it on a maiden flight. |

Arent those kites huge? Do they work at 5-7 mph wind or do you need higher velocity?
My kids love kites and this summer they are finally old enough to participate, so this is something that would be fun to explore. There are a few different kite parks in South County that are next to the ocean, so it would be fun to pack the kids up and go there for an afternoon activity and try different kites. People also go there to fly their model airplanes and helicopters but there is something old school about kites.

That was my thought as well.
Chuck needs a hobby at which he could at least marginally succeed. Like etch-a-sketch.

I have a kite that is a tri-plane, sort of like the red baron but in psychedelic colors. It flies very very well, even in low breezes. Which is good becasue where i live it is always about 75 degrees and sunny and the wind never blows too hard.

That sounds like the optimal habitat for monkeys.
