I could certainly see a scenario where, if Jensen wanted to be the Head coach at Utah some day and he had 1) loyalty to Majerus and 2) Doubts that Boylen was the guy, that he wouldn't want to align himself with the program right now. I mean really, if Boylen does not right the ship and is fired in a few years, are his assistants going to be considered for the job?
Probably not. Plus, sometimes its just not wise to go home again...or at least not yet...Rich Rodriguez comes to mind, among others. |

Help me understand the "loyalty to the fat man" argument. Was it a matter of both Boylen and Coach Rick offering Alex a job and he opted to go with Majerus? Surely it wasn't some kind of "I won't work for anyone at Utah because I'm loyal to Majerus!" feeling was it?

I think he knew Majerus, knew his program, and knew his personality so he knew what to expect. Most if not all of the players that lasted four years in the Utah program under Majerus have had nothing but good things to say about him. Occasionally, you will hear of someone who ran into Jeff or Britton Johnson at 7-11 and got one of them to tell said person that they hate Majerus and Utah, but I don't believe those types of statements have ever been substantiated by a reliable source. |

Face it the Billikens have a better program right now than the Utes. Jensen is no idiot.

Jensen didn't join Boylen because he's loyal to Majerus and right now being Boylen's assistant is not as powerful resume enhancer or sure a thing to making it to the next level as remaining with Majerus. I should think this is obvious, but I have unimpeachable sources. I respect him. I don't respect namby pambies who sacrifice career and more important a balanced life experience to move home to mommy and daddy and church in Utah.

If the question is loyalty, my preference is loyalty to the institution versus loyalty to an individual who left the institution broken (Mommy, Daddy, and The Church be damned). If he is building his resume, then you are probably correct, making (as CJ so adroitly pointed out) the Bilikens and their Dr. Seuss mascot and 17-15 record a better career move than the Utes. Those years in Turkey made Alex a wise man.

Maybe Fat man threatened Jensen....
.....maybe Majerus told Jensen that if he leaves he will make sure that Jensen never gets a job anywhere else.....maybe Jensen is stuck with Fat Man for a while.
