2008 v. 2005, 2006, 2007
A huge difference between this years team, and the variations of the last three years... previously, these are the types of games BYU's teams have found a way to lose. Hopefully this year things change, and this is the closest call we get.
Offensively, I'd grade us at a B+. The two turnovers kept us from being an A. Defensively, I'd grade us as a D+/C-. We've got to learn to put teams down earlier and not let them think they can hang with us. Teams getting down by two or more scores against our offense is going to look like a huge uphill battle, hopefully our D can come out a little sharper next week. To come away with a win on the road against a Pac-10 team with a -2 turnover margin, with a porous secondary, I'll take it. Not thrilled with the performance, but I'll take it. |

If BYU had a banner year in linebackers this year, watch out. As well as punter and placekicker.
As it is, the combination of the three being bad is going to come back and haunt us. |

I agree. Hopefully it won't haunt us until we bust the BCS though a la Hawaii.

Sorry, but I quite like our punter and placekicker, thank you.

For as much hype as our DBs have had, they are pretty much the same old BYU DBs. Only our safeties are below average, even at BYU. Fowler is adequate, but Tafuna is just terrible. Had he picked the ball that went right through his hands, or even knocked it down, BYU could have taken any momentum that UW thought they had and ran away with the game. Made for decent drama though. And like it or not, now BYU is being talked about in the media. No pub is bad pub, isn't that how the saying goes? |
