I guess I've never really thought about how that system works. I was under the impression that you can purchase from the Bishop's Storehouse. Is that not the case? This story reads like you have to get a voucher or something from your Bishop to get anything there. Interesting.

I think members can buy stuff for home food storage.

But otherwise someone in need talks to the Bishop and the Bishop gives the administrative ok for them to get a certain amount of food.

The problem sometimes is that these are poor people who eat nothing but processed junk-food, so when they get these staples, they have no idea what to do with them. Real food is a foreign concept to them.
