I really don't know what to make of this.

On the one hand, why still offer him a scholarship? On the other, why punish him for the 2009 season?

DUI is serious business. Many people are killed because of drunk people getting behind the wheel. And DUIs and public intoxication convictions are often signs of a serious alcohol problem. "I got drunk once, and chose to drive." Not likely.

Can we have a 5 year moratorium on the "I learned my lesson" news stories about the kid? About his wonderful spiritual journey, and how he raked leaves for the orphanage?

The odd thing is the BYU baseball player who didn't get his ecclesiastical endorsement, because he wasn't gungho about church, and didn't ask for a calling. And then you have this kid.

America is all about second chances. We shall see in this case.
