Default Gitmo detainee commits suicide

http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/06/02/GUA...IDE/index.html

This does not surprise me.

Some of these guys have been in isolation, in tiny cells for many years now.

While, technically, I suppose this is not considered torture, but for me it would be.

They have guards looking in on these prisoners constantly, trying to prevent suicides. Not because the govt. cares that they live, but that the govt. wants to maintain control, so in that sense a suicide is evidence that the govt. is not in control, and might be considered by some, a moral victory (as perverse as it may sound) for the prisoners.

We are talking about prison guards that forcibly put tubes down prisoners throats to feed them, without consent.

I suppose none of you saw the National Geographic special on Gitmo, where the cameras went in.
