I guess I should clarify a few things. 2" below the bricks means you take the level at which you want the top of the paver to sit (flush with driveway?), dig down the thickness of the paver and then 2" more.

If you're going right next to a driveway you're going to run into some problems with the sloppy edge from when they poured your driveway. Sometimes when they pour concrete there is a little lip where the concrete got under the borders when they did the pour.

Sand = silica sand. It can be hard to find in small quantities so you may have to look for "play sand."

I've done about 10 of these projects... They can be a pain in the arse. You may want to look at your material costs and see if it would be worth getting somebody to curbmate your driveway in stead.
