How often do you ride?
Every day.
Every other day. Whenever time allows. Almost never. Only once or twice on weekends. I ride between three to five times, even though not ever ride is long or meaningful. I usually try to get one to two longish rides in. Still not enough to be ride fit, but it's a start.

I'm assuming this question is geared towards those who have been riding for a while! What would you consider long enough to be ride fit?

For the speed rides, you need a couple mile warm up then a bunch of short distances to blast your legs and then a warm down. For intervals you need a warm up then differing lengths of intervals and breaks in between. For power rides, you need at least thirty to forty minutes of hard work with twenty minutes warm up and twenty minutes warm down. Long rides are anything in excess of two hours, often three hours, but sometimes one needs a four to seven hour ride. Fitness in cycling is relative. You need also some climbing regimen because any cycling requires one to improve climbing. Nobody can be a complete cyclist without some competency in climbing, even if one does it slowly.

Whenever Mrs. Meanie is in the mood which works out to about twice a week.
Oh wait - you mean bikes? In that case my answer is "never". |
