Do you look for certain training responses to each ride, seeking heart rate and wattage info, or are you just glad you got to ride and do the best you can most of the time?

If you have a certain routine ride do you measure your performance in terms of wattage, speed, or other metrix?

Thats a tough question to answer, as tracking these things can be difficult without some sort of software. My buddy recently bought cyclistats and loves it. You can track everything from route, distance, elevation, HR avg and max, avg and max wattage, subjective response and probably a few other things I'm forgetting. Graphs are easy to generate as well, comparing whatever factors you choose to include.

As for me, I monitor my HR pretty closely, but due to several variables affecting HR during a ride, tracking it for progress is difficult. I mainly check it to compare with how I am feeling, soI can better understand my upper exertion levels. Basically, I want to know how high I can maintain before I blow up.

I also have several climbs that I time myself up. I know how far they are and how fast I've done them in the past. I've also got an 18 and 32 mile loop where I like to time myself, for a little training time trial.
