I just get a little uneasy when the follow up discussions lead to posts talking about the integrity and morality maturity of the kids who choose BYU, leading one to believe some believe if you don't select BYU you lack a moral maturity. That is when it gets out of hand and overboard. IMHO
But then their articles end up posted on competitor's message boards, and the fathers of recruits have to post retractions "we never said it like that", and the recruit and the LDS church get mocked for such a stupid article.

Default This is the first time I have ever seen that

happen.

People say things to them and then may regret what was said or the reaction it caused. I don't think it is their responsibility to try and figure out how the reaction is going to be to something they are told.

I wouldn't doubt though there are some who like the "secretive" side who will use this incident as evidence of a need for more control.

Are there any other rival sites where the posters are required to give their real names or is that unique to the BYU site.

Call me crazy, but I think that if the LDS Church gets mocked I think that will often be to BYU's advantage with mormon kids from devout mormon famalies.

It is like the in-laws concept. Your wife can say bad things about her mom, but you better not.

I can criticize BYU, church members, etc. and so can my fellow family members , but someone else better not.
