Why when I ask a serious question do you feel you have to throw out some TIC thing and hi-jack my thread.

I think the thread was hijacked (Hacking) long before I arrived.

Is it that this is just an odd year? Is it that the cops are more prone to arrest someone in Utah County? Are BYU athletes more inclined to not think things through before acting?

I wonder on a per capita basis if more BYU students are arrested than U of U students?

I wonder if it really isn't the gotcha climate surrounding BYU. I haven't heard of a U student trying to poison his wife. I haven't heard of U student having his fiance kidnapped by his future in-laws.

Maybe if some BYU fans would tout a little less how above everyone else they are, people wouldn't be so anxious to do gotcha's.
Don't know and honestly, I don't think too much about it. Perhaps it's because there isn't any real crime in Provo?

I think there may be some truth to this statement, not to diminish the serious crimes that do take place there. But it seems a bit Reno 911 down there sometimes. This including the 3 times I was pulled over without probable cause and let go without any ticket and the 4th time where the cop gave me a speeding ticket for going 40 in a 35 there by the LES.

I honestly think the culture is a byproduct more than anything of the BYU culture created by the Honor Code. The Honor Code teaches that it's okay to snitch, even better it's okay to snitch anonymously. This allows for people to interpret rules and laws and indict others as they see fit. It also teaches that one should be punished to the full extent for menial transgressions.

Allowing anonymous snitching is bullshit. Character is important in all people, not just people nailing chicks or drinking beer. Not forcing somebody to have the fortitude to stand by their accusations of others makes part of the "honor" part of "honor code" null and void.

I know of a place where there is a real honor code and I can assure you there is nothing anonymous about it.

Agreed.

Anonymous narking should NOT be allowed. Report mano a mano or not at all. Our men and women need some cajones and not the synthetically induced type Barry Bonds has.

It should be noted that the HC Office says they do not investigate anonymous reports. And they encourage students to address the offender directly to air their grievances with them personally before filing a report to the HC. However, I call bullshit on this. You don't think that if the HC office got a phone call from someone anonymously who said that they saw 3 football players and identified them by name at the blue house by Brick Over boozing it up at a house party that they would not contact Bronco over it?

And unless this has changed in the last 10 years I specifically asked who reported me the first time and they protected the individual's identity which makes it anonymous to me.
