Markets like this tend to keep me busier than usual. I post in dramatic spurts and dramatic lulls.

So certainly not 0 times.

Is this so much of a stretch you can't imagine me following through?
I think that if your bishop sat down with you and said "I know this is hard but it's something I've been asked to do by the SP and he by an apostle. It's something I need to ask you to please help me with even if you personally can't get there yet" that your decision would be a lot tougher than it seems. Especially in the framework of a "who's on the Lord's side who?" argument and added to that a "you are one of the leaders of this ward" argument.

If that happened to me I would have to tell the Bishop I actually agree with the point. I actually would like the amendment to happen. I would tell him I am extremely uncomfortable in going out as a representitive of the mormon church pushing this amendment.

I am extremely uncomfortable that the possiblility will come where the SP might come and ask that I do something political that I don't agree with and lay the "who's on the Lord side who" argument on me. That who is on the Lords side who is a very, very weak argument brought up by people who feel the only method of persuading someone is strongarming them.

I prefer those who ask me to pray about it and do what the spirit directs me to do.

In our area, at least, we are not being asked to be representatives of the church. we are simply asked to talk about the amendment.

Update....

There will be a statewide satellite broadcast on Wed, Oct 8 at 7PM (or 7:30?) in all stake centers. SLC on Prop 8. California only.

I am actually really looking forward to it. Should be interesting.

I heard about this and am very curious of what will be said. All of a sudden we are hearing about prop 8 in talks and testimonies and apparently the church as a whole is okay a facilities and plots being used.
