J.C. Watts, Michael Steele... it's not like they're not out there. I had always thought that the first black president would be republican.

News flash: He's just as white as he is black.

Okay, whatever. My point still stands. Black conservatives are uncle Tom's, not authentic blacks, so there's nothing to celebrate if one of them is elected.

Or even, how about just American vs. African American? BTW......had that not been pointed out by the media, I never would have know he was black. Would you?

Furthermore, that after all this talk of "change," Cali focuses on race versus what this means in terms of future direction of the United States. Did race trump substance? Was Ferraro right?

I am happy for the history of the country that a black man was elected president. But I'm not as giddy as some because this does not surprise me. I've been saying for years and years that America is not racist and that institutionalized racism is nearly non-existent.
People are saying, "Amazing! We elected a black man!" I'm thinking, "This is a shock?" Perhaps I'm just too forward-thinking. Quote:
Obama was a wonderfully teflon candidate because of the Messianic campaign he ran. Works well for campaigns, if you can pull it off. Not so great for governing. We'll see how long the honeymoon lasts.
