Collie is a deep threat...not a breakaway threat. BYU has never been too keen or adept at running mis-direction.

I just wish he could stick with the run.

But don't you know that execution running the same 4 plays over and over again is unstoppable?

Do you mean running back screens? Because Utah runs wide receiver screens all the time. Casteel scored on one against BYU in 2006.

Come on. He almost always had more than 2 seconds. BYU needed to plan for the pressure and get the ball out of his hands in 2 seconds anyways, much like they did against UCLA when they expected Walker's defense to blitz on every down.

In 2006 Beck had 9 receivers with over 20 receptions. In 2008 Max hall is on pace to only have only 5 with over 20 catches and Collie and Pitta should have well over over 80 each. In 2006, Brown was the leading receiver with 60 something catches. The ball is not being spread around and Max is a big part of the problem. Last night the problem was exacerbated by the rush. He did not have time to go through his progressions on every play, but max has been forcing it all season even when he has not been pressured. |

Hall had Unga out in the flat several times but never looked. Unga could pick up a couple on each of those and if he makes one guy miss then he has some YAC.

BROWN, Curtis 62 HARLINE, Jonny 58 JACOBSON, 28 ALLEN, Matt 27 COLLIE, Zac 26 REED, Michael 25 TONGA, Manase 23 COATS, Daniel 22 MEIKLE, Nathan 21 I think our current group of receivers is = or better this year. I think Max is locking in on Pitta and Collie too much. The reason he does this is because of his early season success, but until he can break free from this crutch he will struggle. Just my opinion. |
