Steel was also riding his bike. You should read the cycling forum more often. Oh, I am not in a super impressive city like Dallas, but I would think a metropolitan area of over 7 million isn't exactly podunkville.

If riding in 112+ weather makes me a pussy then so be it. Oh, and I'm not living in Mayberry either. Granted, there are only 100,000 people here but that's plenty of cars to get a guy killed. In fact it's already happened a couple of times this past year.

Vegas is a two million denizen town, metro that is.

115, 111, 105, 2 million, 7 million. I wasn't commuting but I will tell you during our ride yesterday it was 81, no wind, miles and miles of green wheat and potato fields and no traffic. The winters may be hell but the summers up here are a little slice of heaven.

That souinds great. For my area these tempoeratures are unusually high, although we certainly get up there from time to time. I'll think about you this February when I go for a Saturday morning ride and try to decide if I shold wear tights or just leg warmers that I can peel off when the temps get back above 60 around mid morning.

Try riding 100+ with humidity, such that your sweat doesn't evaporate.
Hotter N Hell a couple three years ago was brutal. People were laid out in the shade of tiny trees on the side of the road. Two of the stations had run out of ice near the end. All kinds of people getting IVs at the end. This was Texas heat, not dry desert heat. I wouldn't wish this on any of you. Btw, some of you should come to Hotter N Hell. In August. One of the best rallies/races in the country, I dare say with 11,000+ bike riders. |

And the no-ice thing was an anomaly. I have done it for 5 years. Plus get all the pickle juice you want. |
