Also BYU's OOC home schedule for '10 looks like this: vs. Washington That's it. There is an open slot for an OOC for 09' away and 10' home....and I imagine that's what BYU is trying to fill. Since 09' OOC schedule is: vs. Florida State, vs. Utah State, @ Arizona State.....my guess they're looking for a fair to middle of the road Non-BCS D-I team to fill that role.

I am not so sure that is the plan. Sounds to me more like they are letting him play QB because they need another backup.

I think a good portion of the 08' signing class will still be on missions by the time the '10 season rolls around.
Only 5 of the signees are going on missions right out of high school, so a much larger number will be leaving on their missions after the 08' season. Also I can't see BYU not going after a JC QB for the 09' class as a stop gap. From everything I've heard James Lark isn't the answer and has been disapointing in practices and running the scout team. However, before Jason Munns blew his knee out, I'd heard the exact opposite of him. That from the minute he walked on to campus the coaches knew they had someone pretty special. However...he's now leaving on mission this Summer...and even if he gets home in time for '10 season he won't be in the mix that year. So.........My guess is they'll go after a JC QB that has 3 years to play 2, and then redshirt him for the 09' season, with the hopes that when the 10' season rolls around that he's had at least a full year learning the system. There's been a lot of rumors/gossip regarding Riley Nelson going to BYU off of his mission, but I'll believe that when I see it. Anyway, just a few thoughts.

Or Utah State. Course they're a road game that year.

Most QB prospects, even highly recruited ones, don't work out. That's the nature of the game. That's why I think all these plans of this guy or that guy is going to take over in '10 at QB are crap. We should be signing a QB every year.
