Very sad. I actually got choked up when I told my wife. He was an amazing man.

Monson will be hard pressed to match Hinckley's abilities as a public relations genius. Monson has his strengths, however, and might lead us into an era of greater pronouncements from the mantle he now assumes.

My sentiments are the same as everyone else's.

It is a sad day for the Church he left behind, but it is a very happy reunion for he and his wife, as well as his predecessors both in the church and in his family.

It is truly the end of an era.

A bittersweet day for certain. I am 32 years old and he has almost always seemed like the face of the church to me, and one of the best faces of the church. I will miss him immensely.

RIP President Hinckley

I hope it brings longevity, but he has been very sick of late. Monson is struggling with diabetes, and he has been in the hospital several times with debilitating sickness in the past few years.

I last saw him a few months back, and he looked much better. I think he can offer a lot as prophet, and I hope his health holds up.

THere are some intellectuals in the church who will be praying for Pres. Monson's health, I'm sure.

Why do you say that? I feel like I know very little about him. I was just commenting to my wife that with GBH you really felt like what you saw was what you got. When he spoke you had a strong sense of the man. THM has such an extremely affected speaking style that I don't have that same sense.

Maybe that is the real him. I don't know. Does anyone have a sense of this?

I am saying that Monson alive, means that the next guy in line isn't the President.

He is a genuine man, a caring man, and will be a great leader. I know what you mean about his speaking tone- it almost sounds phony. But he isn't phony. He likes attention more than we are used to in a prophet, but I imagine you will see that toned down quite a bit too.
