Hell was awful in the movie, but it wasn't something a fierce judgemental God was forcing on people to torture them. They had self selected it due to their mental state.

It wasn't the greatest movie, but it had some thought-provoking ideas and some completely stunning visuals. I need to watch it again.

The only one you really wish to be in is Purgatory, because you can progress to Paradise.

Well, to say there are nine doesn't exactly represent the work.

But the idea is, Dante envisioned different types of eternal suffering for different types of sins.

I believe lust, for example, is a turbulent windstorm.
