Sure, I'll admit that is an excuse for what KW did. But at the same time, you're making an excuse for Glenn's more offensive reaction.

How could you or anyone else know if what you said is true? Do you really have the ability to know that but for Glenn's statement, KW wouldn't have kicked an on-side kick? How can you possibly state that as a fact?

The teams hate each other, KW and Glenn haven't exactly been friends before today, and KW was looking for momentum. Could Glenn's statement have had an impact? Certainly. But I can't pretend to know if it was solely responsible for KW's actions.

As far as Glenn's actions go, they are FAR more understandable to me than KW's. And Glenn will be the one who gets reprimanded, ironically.

I was talking about the entire game, not just the onside kick. My mistake for not making that understood.

What I said is true. Glenn guaranteed a win before the game. That is an open invitation to a butt kicking from the other team.

It doesn't matter if it's more understandable why Glenn gave KW the finger, you're still excusing his behavior.

glenn's response was out of line. kw's onside kick call was unsportsmanlike. end of story. as a ute fan, yes, i wish kw had not done it, but flipping the bird was over the top. at the time, it amused me, just like i was put off by kwhit pulling that stunt. now that time has passed, it is really was the lowest response possible for somebody who had called out the other team.

in an obvious reaction, it is now fodder for zoobs and something that ute fans really shouldn't worry about. i appreciate coug fans who call it unfortunate and then move on.

kwhit is pulling off an amazing season, and this does not blemish it for me.

the nice, but also unfortunate thing about this little rivalry, the holy war if you will, is that these types of frustrations will never go away. sometimes you're on top, sometimes you're not. right now, the cougs have a little nugget about our coach that many of their fans will continue to overexagerate about, and ute fans will keep defending when it is really a minor thing...

but, come on - to call that the least classy occurrence ever in sports is a major overreaction and fails to recognize the entire context it occurred in.

Who said it was the least classy event ever in sports?

It was very unclassy, and it embarrassed not only Whit, but the entire team. Glenn shouldn't have done what he did, but at least I can understand it.

Well, you did say that it was one of the all-time unclassiest things you've ever seen.

How do you know it embarrassed KW and the team? Or are you projecting how you feel about it?

I've said it before that it classless to do it, but I'm not going to fret about it. Everyone does something classless at one time or another.

It was one of the all-time unclassiest things I have seen. I don't think that is the same as saying it was the least classy event to ever have occurred in sports. Do you?

I think public sentiment supports my opinion that the event was embarrassing for KW and the team (including newspaper reports, television commentators, etc.).

You're right. There is a difference between one of the all time least classy things and the least classy. A bit semantic, but there is a difference.

But I can be semantic as well - you first said that it "embarrassed not only Whit, but the entire team."

Public sentiment or not, doesn't mean that KW or the team were embarrassed by it. Only KW and his players know if they were embarrassed.

It would have succeeded had not one of the Ute players been offside on the onside kick.

(I just wanted to use offside and onside in the same sentence)

Exactly.....
