Really, stuff like this serves a great purpose at BYU and Utah County, in general. Focusing on such banalities allows everyone to ignore more serious, legitimate issues that exist.

During my undergrad and law school years at BYU, i can remember countless debates in the Daily Universe over shaving facial hair in order to participate in intramurals, playing more upbeat music in the weight room, leaving before the closing prayer of a Tuesday devotional, not coming to a halt when the National Anthem was played every evening on campus, etc..

I honestly cannot remember one single open discussion in the Daily Universe about date rape. Or drug abuse on campus.

I guess I was just lucky and attended BYU during a stretch where those things didn't exist. Thank goodness. Stuff like that only happens on campuses like USC, the home of Human Debris.

My guess is that the guy who coordinated this protest is simply trying to impress the father of his soon-to-be frigid fiancee.

I couldn't care less actually about Golds Gym. I don't go there. However what scares me about these folks is the same thing that scares me about the religious right. Where do they stop?

I have seen posts on both TBS and Cougarboard referring to some of the pictures on this board as "porn". Sure we can laugh off these people, but they are serious and believe what they say.

AS long as it is their words and their opinions, radicals don't bother me. It is when they organize and because people really don't care, they are able to push through their radical minority type views. You find it all the time. A small group is a pain in the butt and so you let them have their way, because quite frankly you just don't care since it affects someone else and not you.

They are viewed as silly nuisances. However, sometime they might go after something you care about that most people don't. You will then lose some freedom you have because these purists push their agenda on you and just too many others don't care.

Me? No, never. Siblings did. Niece currently. I was the black sheep of the family.

More than likely, you ARE correct. These taliban have visions of authority in the heirarchy. They hope one day to be sitting in a soft chair facing the congregation in general conference.

First of all, the quote is from Hamlet. And it goes, "Methinks the lady doeth protest too much."

Ok - thanks for the correction. I mix up a lot of the characters and plays - like when Romeo hops the wall and stabs Caesar.

Yours was the first reference to William Shakespeare as "Billy" that I have ever heard.

I wonder if A-Hath called him Billy?

I call him Billy because word on the street is that he's a mamma's boy.

Its a power trip all the way. They wanted others to do what they said.

And, thanks to ksl, they got it.
