depending on the fish load, probably less likely to kill the fish because more gallons per fish, in the case of poor maintenance.

On the other hand, water changes take longer and are a bigger production. And it is more expensive.

I recommend a koi pond instead. Then you can claim the algae's part of the charm.

convert the pool into a koi pond.

I like aquatic plants a lot, and koi destroy them. So I actually might prefer a goldfish pond with plants.

A Koi pond, properly done, needs to be pretty deep.

Yeah, Dutch style, though wishing it was Amano-style.

I had too many different species of plants at the time, and didn't want to get rid of any. I made a couple thou selling clippings of my plants back when I thought it was a good use of my time to sell them.
