And fwiw, I think the strategy of not having her interview is a smart one. I doubt she is ready to start taking direct questions about her views and McCain's views. The Repubs can bask in her performance and keep her away from interviews for a week or two...they prep her, get her ready and hopefully for them, she does well.

I think if she were to do some interviews now, it could go poorly for her...they want to give her time to get her ready. Great idea for repubs, terrible idea for the dems...it all depends on which side you are 'rooting' for. Now, if she is still not giving interviews in a month, then I think repubs must not be confident in her at all--but for now, I can see why they are doing it.

We have had 18 months to vet Obama's and McCain's positions on issues. Both have written policy papers that are hundreds of pages long. Both have engaged in dozens of debates discussing their policies. Biden's are very well-known. Nobody knows anything about Palin's, and we have a short 2 months to learn. I will be very interested in this ABC interview. It needs to be intensely policy focused, and it needs to be one of many such interviews that give us a chance to learn what she believes and how she would act on certain issues.

Isn't the greater tragedy one's reliance on an Atlantic Monthly blog, based on a single comment by an unnamed campaign official, that is contradicted by more widely published news reports? Or is this a self-deprecating way of illustrating your concern about uneducated voters? If so, good job.

BTW, I'm not a Palin supporter. Nor am I a supporter of stupid hyperbole.
