Ahh - it was actually first book of the bi-month - It has not been a book of the "undetermined time period" yet. Not to be too technical or anything like that, though.

I'm genuinely curious. I read Rough Stone Rolling last year and really liked it.

It was written by the nephew of President McKay's long-time secretary, based on documents, notes and diaries she kept - apparently, lots and lots of documentations. He enlisted the help of the mission president for his home area, who he became close with, and also interviewed a bunch of people.
It's a very good read, and packed with information and quotes. I'm really enjoying it.

That was an excellent book. You all should thank me profusely for originally suggesting it! I had just finished it when I joined cougarguard and recommended it as our first book of the bi-month. Thankfully Mike thought it sounded interesting and gave it the go-ahead.

I have recommended this book to several friends and they have all loved it. Including one who is related to Hugh B. Brown and was blown away by stories about Elder Brown in the book. It was a very moving experience for him.

I agree, it is an excellent book. Aside from the media and communications chapter which was VERY painful to try to get through (sorry SIEQ, it was), I loved it.
I thought several of the chapters were very insightful in learning more about church administration and some of the discussion that goes into policy changes and recommendations. And I love the idea of the temple cruise ship. What a concept! |

Temple cruise ship? I haven't got to that part yet - is there any mention of a temple ski resort or a celestial beach club?

One suggestion would be Harold Bloom's "The American Religion."
Most of it is about Mormons. I've read it twice. |
