When I have been Y.M. President for 5 years now, been asked to be released 3 times and no one seems to care.

Oh...I thought the topic was "I felt like a dolt when...."

I finally managed to escape YM after almost 8 years. It took a comment that I'd stop going to church and then skipping 3 consecutive weeks (though two of the three were going to a baby blessing of a family member and the return of another family member from a mission, but the Bishop decided that I was serious).

Dude...

I have mentioned this before but I will say it again.

Got off my mission Nov 17th, 1995. Put in YM Presidency Nov. 19th 1995.

Released in 2000. Put in EQ Presidency in 2000.

Released in 2001. Put in YM Presidency 2001.

Placed as YM President 2003 til 2008 (currently still serving)

This covers 3 wards. But if we do the math...

12 years. Sheesh.

And one of those years they had me teaching early morning seminary also.

I need a break.

Yikes. You do need a break. Skip church for a month.

5 of the 8 years for me was as Stake YM Pres. It wasn't better than the final 3 as ward YM Sec., but different and more time consuming.

Ah well, the things we do for the salvation of others, eh?

Walk me through the reasons why you give an unbaptized kid the sacrament? Other than that you don't want them to cry?

I've never really heard a doctrinally sound reason, but perhaps you have one. I'd be interested in hearing it.

The silver lining is you must be making a great impact with the young men - they wouldn't keep you in there if you weren't. But still, 12 years is a long time.

I was scoutmaster for 4 years. I liked it and wouldn't mind doing it again, but I'd want to wait until my oldest was in scouts.

You're probably right, there's no doctrinally sound reason. I've honestly never seen anyone not allow their unbaptized kids to take the sacrament. If you don't, I'm thinking you're in the extreme minority. But hey, that's fine with me.

Bread and water is a nice appetizer for the Goldfish main course.

We don't give it to them, but they do just take it. We do not respond by lunging out of our seats and swatting it out of their hands. I guess we could have a FHE about it and tell them not to do it, but it doesn't seem like that big of a deal to me. I have bigger things to worry about with my kids than the 3 year old who takes the sacrament.

Our YM President was able to get himself released recently, so I can give you some advice that is sure to work. Just have an affair.
