BTW, the spider does not have orange marks like that. You could say I killed it with a chemical weapon (orange spray paint).
My daughter is going to freak when we move to Houston.

That's pretty extreme. We only saw that big of a spider once and that was while the house was being framed. Nothing like that since we moved in.

Although I'm told critters are even worse in Houston.

I think in OK they just put a few salt licks in the pool and call it a "salt water system"

Actually, there was a clearance on ice cream rock salt, so we just threw a few bags in.

In our Provo house we had: tarantula crawling through our grass, wolf spider as big as my hand on the brick wall of our entry, snakes, bat, skunk in the garage, deer in the back yard. At least we had no bears.

When we first bought out land out here, we came out one morning and there was a family of wild pigs strolling across the meadow. Fortunately we haven't seen them since and that was before any construction so maybe they've relocated (forcibly or not). Wild pigs and little kids is not a good mix. Not to mention what they'd do to the landscaping.

Wild pigs, a firearm and a smoker are a fantastic mix.

Wild pigs are so bad here that in the next county over, they pay $10 for a set of ears or something like that.

Don't need a firearm. More efficient to buy a trap.
