We watched the DVD yesterday. Sounds like a facinating man.

Religion rises inevitably from our apprehension of our own death. To give meaning to meaninglessness is the endless quest of all religion. When death becomes the center of our consciousness, then religion authentically begins. Of all religions that I know, the one that most vehemently and persuasively defies and denies the reality of death is the original Mormonism of the Prophet, Seer and Revelator, Joseph Smith.

my comment was general in nature. Read my entire post. They know what's going on and where things are or are not happening. Are you saying Utah is not the hotbed for Mormon scams?

Your comment was not general in nature. Neither is this post. You simply confirmed your cluelessness. Elder Oaks did not single out Utah. That was FM's spin (by his own admission).

LDS people in general are susceptible to financial scams by fellow members, due to their tendency to trust any fellow member of the tribe, and a culture that links possessions with righteousness. If there is an abnormal number of scams in Utah (and Utah County in particular) it is most likely due to a higher concentration of Mormons in those areas. The two major ponzi schemes I posted above in Southern California involving LDS members illustrate this phenomenon.

I never said that what Oaks was saying was that it was Utah or UC folks, that was FM. All I said that complaining about the proliferation of scams originating in the UC is a valid complaint, which I think is true.

Perhaps I should have been more precise in indicating that I equate MLM's with financial scams and that, in particular, is what I single out as overly abundant in UC, and the source of my criticism.

Utah is well known around the country for scams........

Yeah, it's all a joke! Yank that noggin out of your butt! LOL

I did enjoy the proximity of the mountains in Utah County, though.

Marriotts Newport Coast Villas - nice. We stayed there this past October.

By the way, it's not an oyster - it's an upside down turtle and it's torn down now.

Yes, exactly. So if you drive down NC Blvd from the Marriott, you get to PCH and the 2 big Arches.

If you go up the hill about 3 stop lights, you get to a local strip mall/shopping center/grocery store on San Joaquin Hill Road. We lived about one block from that intersection. We loved it there. Lots of fun.

It seems like everyone who stays at the Marriott loves it. We have never been there, but have heard nothing but good things about it.
