Meh. There's a chance at going to the BCS at 11-1 for a team starting the year in the top-20. TCU would've done with current BCS rules in 2005.

Still, I have a hard time feeling sorry for someone who would consider BYU going 11-1 or 10-2 this year suicide-worthy.

While I think the Utes are good enough to beat BYU this year, I don't think they're good enough to go undefeated.

You have someone complaining about our 2nd bowl win in the last decade because it wasn't a good enough performance. I think there will be plenty of bitching, especially since the team appears to be using the quest for perfection as this years "Fully Invested."

A 10-2 season this year and people some people will start to question Bronco.

I have no doubt that I will hear people around me in the stands question Bronco, Hall, Anae, and various other issues and individuals. On the whole, their concerns will be based on poor logic, uninformed observations, and a general lack of intelligence. I expect this even if we do go undefeated.

Again, I have a hard time feeling sorry for anyone who considers any result of the 2008 BYU Football season to be suicide-worthy.

Then again, I may support any Ute fans who decide it's time to end their pitiful fandom on this earth if BYU goes undefeated....

A couple of thoughts:

The thing that eludes this team is OOC away games. If the Y were to end up 11-1 or 10-2 with victories at Washington and vs. UCLA (even though it's a home game) and losses to TCU, for example, that would represent (at least to me) a larger silver lining than another undefeated season in conference with early OOC losses. It would show some progress.

Also, there is 2009 as well. The team loses a couple of significant players after next year, but they could well be primed for a great year.

Lastly, I'm not really one to complain about scheduling, but I think it's safe to say that it isn't the most difficult. Expectations *should* be high.

I have no stats currently to back me up, but my guess is OOC away games are not the strength of most of the non-elite teams in the country.

It would be interesting to see how BYU's recent track record in OOC away games stacks up with the other teams in the MWC. Maybe the WAC too...
