Having a woman do it under those circumstances was especially terrible (in the poetic sense).

Now we have a woman who's a mother of five, including a disabled four month infant, who chose to have that infant rather than terminate it, believes creationism should be "discussed" in the schools, etc., running for vice-president. Is Sarah "Barracuda" Palin a bad person, or is Sister Beck's pitch not as open and shut as Sister Beck and the Brethren wanted to make everybody think?

The upshot is another chink in the LDS Church's battered credibility. Something similar to this scenario gets replayed over and over again. Someday a wonderful person will win the presidency who is a Republican and was raised in a great, conservative home . . . with gay parents.

You should maybe read Sr. Beck's talk again. Or once. In the words or Inigo Montoya, I do not think it means what you think it means.

I suspect that there is one vital step that SU must perform before being able to read Sister Beck's talk a second time. Anybody care to guess what it might be?

No but what's the over/under on how soon the email rumors start that she is. From Idaho, 5 kids, etc.

Swallow the General Conference issue of the Ensign and wait about 24 hours?

Well, it was a lot simpler than that. He needs to read it once before he can read it again.

Palin is Assembly of God.

Agreed.

Is this how it is in Dallas for Mormons? Or any other religion? Or are you just stating opinion (again but claiming it to be fact)?

But does conservative ideology and intelligence outweight all of that? As far as the voting booth goes, most Mormons would still punch GOP.
A vote cast for a ticket with a woman as VP is a vote cast for a ticket with a woman as VP no matter the reason. Just because you believe that most Mormons are GOP sheep doesn't mean it's true, but if you want to believe it, that's ok.

I dunno. He can't read it a first time without pulling his head out.

Yes, Mormons are pretty much GOP sheep.

Even with a woman who is going against the prophets in her lifestyle (not that they are HER prophets), it is in no-way a deal-breaker if she is a Republican and something is at stake.
