True. I guess this is more proof I am not orthodox. I have never been able to fully wrap my mind around polygamy.

So, for all of you who believe that polygamy is practiced in the CK...

Why is our God monogamous?

Or is he?

Insufficient data. A reasonable conclusion would be that He isn't monogamous because He wouldn't require us to do something something He wasn't doing Himself.

He conceived his Son with Mary. Of course I am assuming that he chose to abide by the natural laws that he created for the conception, but why wouldn't he?

If CougarGuard had a 95% female equivalent, I'll bet that site would have a very different result on this poll.

Most LDS believe that the earth itself will become the celestial kingdom, right? I don't believe the celestial kingdom already exists.
Given what we know about exalted beings, that is likely an incorrect assumption. But be that as it may, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, polygamists all, are exalted beings and will be in the celestial kingdom, currently existent or not.
Likewise Joseph Smith, Brigham Young, John Taylor. As SoCalCoug points out, there are men in this life sealed to more than one woman. Assuming they all have been faithful ...

Thus, I say polygamy already exists in the celestial kingdom.

So there.

One will certainly make the celestial kingdom before I do. The other, I certainly hope doesn't make it.
I'm assuming a divorce is involved here....

Imagine, being forced to spend all of eternity with a spouse you just can't stand....

everyone assumes polygamy is better for the guy. In reality it would suck for most men. If you had multiple wives you'd have to provide for them and deal with all the associated issues. The reality would be most men wouldn't be able to find a wife because they'd have to compete with not just other single guys but the married ones as well.

I see the posts talking about polygamy will exist because there will be more women there.

You are all aware of the fact that there will be single people in the Celestial Kingdom, don't you.

I hope you are also aware that activity as measured here on earth as you see it with your earthly eyes may not represent who is active and who isn't.

I was told by an institue teacher that many, many active LDS guys who have been married in the Temple are going to be shocked when they tell their wife to come forth and she tells him to get lost.

In reality, my grandma grew up in a polygamous household in the polygamist Mormon colonies of Mexico, and she told me that it was almost universally miserable for the women. In Mexico, the LDS Church was performing prophet-sanctioned polygamous marriages long after the manifesto.

My grandma described lots of suffering women, but not men. I tend to go with her account of how things were.
