in a recent national poll, I think it was 5% that said they would not vote for a black candidate. So you can double or triple that to get the true figure.

I don't disagree with your last point, but I think you are overestimating the marginal Black vote he will get. Over the last two presidential elections, the Black vote went 88% and 90% to the Democrats. Obama has recently been polling in the 86% to 93% range among Black voters. Even at the top of that range, he would only be picking up an additional 500,000 or 700,000 votes. I don't have numbers the other way, but I am pretty confident he will be losing that many due to his race.
