Danimal and I visited his parents in France when they were serving as mission presidents. It was Christmas time and we were there during a Christmas party for the missionaries, as well as a few parents who were visiting to pick up their missionaries who had completed their mission. My MIL had purchased some traditional French Christmas cakes for the event. I was in the kitchen, helping to serve when I tried a bite of the cake. It burned a bit when it went down and I blurted out, "this has alcohol in it!" My MIL gave me a stern look and told me to be quiet.

I love alcohol both when I'm cooking and eating.

A recent survey of 376 4th - 12th graders in New Mexico revealed that non-prescription products containing dextromethorphan ranked significantly higher in selection to "get high" than those without it. The most frequently identified abused drug was Nyquil®. The reported drug abuse appeared to increase with student age.

Taking Nyquil every night of your life (!) seems to me incredibly bizarre and likely unhealthy for reasons other than the alcohol content. Holy moly man, if you need a sedative, just put down a snort of whisky. I've never seen hair splitting over the word of wisdom taken to such weird lengths.

Why in the world would anybody need or take a sedative? After a day's sojourn, I'm so exhausted I can fall asleep easily.

I agree and personally my workaholism has generally kept me away from any type of sedative at night except work. I like to stay sharp long as possilbe till I yield to sleep. But I can't believe a nightly shot of whisky wouldn't be more healthy than a chemical cocktail like Nyquil every night.

There are times when I'm restless but I figure I don't need chemicals to sleep. If others want whiskey so much the better, but I don't want any of that stuff. I drive myself to exhaustion, so sleep aids make no sense to me.

These are the types of secrets that bond relationships between DiLs and MiLs.

Religion rises inevitably from our apprehension of our own death. To give meaning to meaninglessness is the endless quest of all religion. When death becomes the center of our consciousness, then religion authentically begins. Of all religions that I know, the one that most vehemently and persuasively defies and denies the reality of death is the original Mormonism of the Prophet, Seer and Revelator, Joseph Smith.

Alcohol is actually not a good sleeping aide, because when it starts to decrease in concentration, this actually activates the brain, just like withdrawal does.

I don't think nightly acetaminophen, dextromethorphan (a cousin of PCP), and alcohol are healthy.
