And many thought it was a good pick. By the way Bill Simmons does not count as a sportswriter.

Don't forget about his Degenerative eye disease...he should be going blind here any day...

The only problem with that argument is that Ford was drafted in '03, 2 years before Bogut, and he missed the last 26 games of the 03-04 season, and the entire 04-05 season. He was anything but the sure thing that you are making him out to be, as his health issues were a major concern.

I can't believe you just mentioned Marvin Williams.

He's a better scorer than Bogut already, and he's 2 years younger. He's not the passer or rebounder Bogut is, and he never will be, but he's adequate for a small forward. His shooting percentage will improve with time, and he somewhat makes up for it by being a very good free-throw shooter. In fact, Williams made more free throws than Bogut attempted last season.

Quoth one of the haters who couldn't believe it happened.

So what? Lots of #1 picks don't live up to expectations.

I am just saying...if you really believe that Marvin Williams is a better player at this point in his career over Bogut, then I greatly overestimated your knowledge of the NBA. By better scorer, he scored 0.7 points more last year than Bogut in the same amount of minutes while shooting around 42-43% for the year. Who knows how he will end up, but he had a large role with the Hawks last year and was given a ton of chances and more often than not, blew it.

And in regards to Lingo...few sportswriters blasted the pick. In fact, most of the sportswriters said it made sense for the Bucks to do even if there were potentially better players down the road later in the draft.
