She doesn't have the power.

First, she had her health care debacle of Bill's first term.

Second, she, in her tirade against Republicans lied about Bill and his affairs. She evinced a hatred for religion.

Third, she has one of the worst and most liberal voting records in the Senate. I would have to review her votes on judicial appointments, but my memory of her comments toward good appointments is that she was negatively inclined.

We would see an effort to socialize medicine.

We would see increase tax rates.

We would see further bias against religion in federal policies.

We would see capitulation to Europe in foreign diplomacy.

We would see further divisions at the social level, black/white and so forth. Her liberal economic and social agenda would further divide and already divided country.

She has never demonstrated any ability to unite factions.

If they had any sense at all they would look to someone like Bayh out of Indiana.
I think Bayh will actually make a good run of things. Edwards could be strong too. Richardson is interesting, though I don't think he can win. I think the Democratic primaries are very tough to predict this election. If I had to guess, I would say Obama comes out on top (and I think he would be a good selection).

You disagree, which is fine, but has she done anything that shows an ability to unite?

Do you mean "unite" in the Bush sense of the term or in some other sense?

Well, Bush wasn't known as divisive and look how divisively Democrats have taken his policies. He was initially seen as a Texas moderate that some Dems praised.

So a known divider would be a nightmare. I can think of none of her tendencies that wouldn't cause almost mayhem in the streets.

A national poll reported in The Washington Post, asking which Democratic candidate the voter presently favors, gives the following result:

Clinton 41%
Obama 17%
Edwards 11%
Gore 10%
Kerry 8%

Bayh has already announced he is not running.
