I have been using covers on my curretn set of celats (this summer) religiously, as in I never ride without them, not even on my commute, and I have yet to have any hint of them coming off, although I can imagine if you were wlaking on rough terrain it would be possible. The covers are a lot cheaper to replace than cleats, however.

I don't know if this is true, but it is a thought. One of the things I like about speedplays, btw, is that they encourage good forma nd efficient pedalling..
