We've had this discussion before. My answer is as follows: I would not do it, because knowing myself, and knowing that I have never had a direct link to God, I know that the chances of that order being because I've developed a mental illness are much greater than the chance that my first direct contact with a supernatural being would be to tell me to kill one of my children.

I therefore would assume that I'm crazy, and make the angel kill me with his flaming sword first.

None of you have suggested that you would use the test described in D&C to discover if an angel is from God or Satan.

No it's not. You are chanigng the issue. The questio was IF God told you, woudl you do it (specifically you asked "Will heaven be devoid of men that walked away when God asked them to murder their children?")? I say, I don't know, but IF God told me, I like to think I would do it. Now you seem to be asking, how can you be sure it is God? Which is a totally different issue and Snowcat points out some of the difficulties in answering that question. Let's try to stick with one or the other, eh?

If the angel's from God, the flaming sword would kill me. If it's not, it would pass right through me.

I suppose I could just ask to shake its hand, but my way is much more dramatic.
