Where did he say it was an act of valor.

I think he indicated it took stones.

Courage, not valor. The two are not identical.

It is courageous for any member to sign a public petition that challenges a concept authored by a Church leader. Consequences often follow.

It does take stones. If there is someone on this board that values being able to post on CB, go over there and go against the authorities.

Post something like I think the mods on this board go way overboard enforcing the rules. Some of the rules are ambigious horsecrap. That would take stones if you want to continue posting.

It doesn't take stones unless someone is wielding iron maidens, racks, pyres and so forth as an award for dissent.

Given the thousands of faiths floating around out there, it must not really be that hard to dissent nowadays.

It's funny that CGers think I have a persecution complex.

Doesn't get more wacko than thinking President Hinckley pores over every name on the petition and then ex's them all.

I'm not going to speculate on the Church's motives, but your own disparagement doesn't help the situation, IMO.

Bureaucracies don't work that way. You have a member of a committee designate a nameless, faceless lifetime bureaucrat review things. That's even worse as you have somebody will no real inspiration or interest applying their fundamentalist views to people they don't know.

There is no higher calling one can aspire to than being a martyr for the faith, ESPECIALLY if it's at the hands of your own faith.

It almost makes you wish that everyone wouldn't get exalted so you could really reap the benefits of taking one for the team.
