Who says we are to say nothing about human rights? Perhaps you missed the entire part of my post where I indicated Bush should push strongly on those issues right now, or where I noted that the global media presence will shine a huge spotlight on the private actions of athletes, protesters, Chinese citizens, etc. that will be broadcast throughout the world and highlighted to an extent never before seen in the US.

If you can't say anything about human rights WHILE YOU ARE IN CHINA, then you shouldn't go.

Care to compare the media attention devoted to the different events?

They aren't trying to hurt the jogger. They are trying to get the torch and humiliate China. And it is working. If your family had been utterly destroyed by the Chinese and your relatively insignificant self had one opportunity to make the world notice, I wonder if you would think differently.

As long as we're railing on Bush for failing to crack down on China, I figured I might as well point out that Clinton was pretty friendly with them during his terms.

One of his best campaign contributors, even.

Are you a fan of Clinton, one of the least principle men on the planet? What does this have to do with anything other than to say that two men with no moral compass came to the same position?

Well, if his wife gets elected, I'm sure she'll right the wrongs of her husband as far as relations with China go.
