We took the 5 and got off at 45th then headed in to park through the main entrance. Not sure which route AA took that he was stuck in traffic forever. He must have stack parked. We parked in some on campus parking garage thing. After the game, total time from stadium to back downtown was about about 40 minutes....which included walking to the car.

The walk from the parking structure to the stadium (by way of Cougar Town tailgate on the baseball fields) was amazing.....like walking through a forest. You can view the lake while you walk.....very nice.

Plus, I loved being around so much purple and gold.
The campus is a botanical wonder. You should see it in springtime with the cherry blossoms and rodies. I see stuff there all the time I thought was a breed of bush as big as an old tree, including rodies. I decided to settle in Seattle some day when I visited the law school on a day as clear as last Saturday in May. I also love those big faux gothic buildings. I take my little ones there just to imprint.

Keep in mind you're from Orange County, and "bad traffic" is a very relative term. I came on the 5 too. Although I have no idea where it was that I got off. It was definitely backed up, but no worse than what I had anticipated. I heard a lot of the people at the game complaining about it though. I thought that the view from the stadium out to the lake was spectacular. Last time I went to Washington I went out to Mt. Ranier. Despite the fact that I experienced a high level of anxiety from the potential for a bear attack it was really spectacular and I'd recommend that everybody go there at least once.

I once had a close encounter with a bear. It sat next to me on the plane in the aisle seat and it's arm crowded into my seat.

How about a Columbia graduate like Juanita Brooks?

We all commented on the buildings, as well. Again, if you come in through the main entrance off 45th, those are some impressive buildings.

we actually checked out the law school, as well as the main campus area and student union (or whatever they call their Wilk equivalent). All of it very striking. No wonder people love living there.

Another thing I thought was very cool (not campus-related)........before every kickoff, the band plays that pulsating drum beat and everyone does the tomahawk chop motion with their arms. the players pump their helmets. That was a fun thing to watch.

The drive back to downtown from UW.....not sure what that small body of water is to the west of the 5 (not Elliott Bay)....the one you pass before you even get to downtown.....has a beautiful bridge, boats, homes all along the banks and hills......how cool.

We enjoyed exploring the Wallingford area. Very neighborhoody, but lots of cool shops and places to snack.

Texas is big time?

Thanks for letting me in on that secret.

Sounds like Lake Union. It's great to watch the salmon run at the locks on the far side, if you're ever in town with kids.
