I'll add one more for your consideration: Terry Kath, the original guitarist of Chicago. He had amazing speed and clarity in his style. The same Jimi H said once that he was a fan of Kath and couldn't do the things that Kath did. Plus, his last words are classics : "DOn't worry, it's not loaded."

It is a big part of the legend. The movie crossroads is based, sort of, on this story. Johnson had a song called crossorads upon which the movie and legend are based, I believe.

I am a hardcore Cure fan. It doesn't bother me that Marsupial found Robert Smith boring, as I put folks like that into the same category as those who find baseball boring:

My cousin is a huge Cure fan. She has a Robert Smith portrait tattoo on one shoulder with lyrics in red spreading out from his head like the rising sun. She also has his eyes tattooed on the inside of each knee.

I like The Cure, but any likeness of Robert Smith will never adorn my body.
