I'm grateful for my simple nature. I feel bad for people of your ilk that torture themselves needlessly.

Sure, I'm new, but I consider myself close enough to that "apostate" line that I'm not so sure it's as cut-and-dry of a proposition as we'd all like. I guess that's why I didn't agree with RB throwing that word around. I'm not sure that's a judgment anyone is able to make about another. At any rate, I never meant to offend or pretend I knew the background more than I do. Clearly you guys know the history of the situation better than I.

I've always kind of thought Mike should provide a character guide for new members. You know? Not unlike when you go to see Romeo and Juliet and they give you a list of the Montagues and Capulets with little notes on each one's role in the play. Except here it could be a list of the believers and the apostates. Or the Cougars and the Utes. Or the superheroes and the mortals, the attorneys and the philosophers...etc. etc. |

If you succeed, I suggest you start your own religion or self-help program--there are millions to be made. Thanks for hanging around. ![]()

Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!! Religion rises inevitably from our apprehension of our own death. To give meaning to meaninglessness is the endless quest of all religion. When death becomes the center of our consciousness, then religion authentically begins. Of all religions that I know, the one that most vehemently and persuasively defies and denies the reality of death is the original Mormonism of the Prophet, Seer and Revelator, Joseph Smith. Thanks for the Phil Hendrie reference. That made me laugh.

Here's an update:
http://deseretnews.com/dn/view/0,1249,660206841,00.html 300,000 copies distributed in Utah alone. Also distributed to selected areas in Washington, California, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, Arizona, Texas, Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Indiana, Ohio, New York, Virginia, Montana, Nevada, Nebraska, Tennessee and Oregon. That's amazing.
