Here's an idea to those idiots in Berkley: obey the rules of the road. Bikes are subjected to the same laws as the cars.

I agree that motorists can be complete jackasses; however, all we saw here was what happened after the bikes were already under the van and those hippies were screaming at the guy. If we had seen the entire thing and it turns out that it was the complete fault of the old man, I'll blame him. Right now, I say both parties are equally at fault.

That article doesn't help the cyclists case, IMO.

I've decided that I won't allow the motorists to have a chance to cause me problems on my bike. I ride along the river parkway. Much safer.

I just have a hard time feeling sorry for environmental extremists like those in the articles. I'm all for sharing the road with cyclists - as long as cyclists obey the rules of the roads. But when they get violent and surround a van with two elderly citizens in it and start threatening - even if they feel justified in doing so - I tend to not side with them.
