Of course Bush II just put icing on that cake. It was a trend long before him.

I've yet to meet one American whose rights have been abridged. An admittedly small and disproportionate sample size, but since everyone's rights have been abridged, you'd think I'd run into at least one ...

Reading through this list shows me that for all the education and high-minded thinking on CG, when the topic turns to Bush, otherwise clear-thinking individuals suspend logic and descend into the chasm of Bush Derangement Syndrome.

This is ignorant. Pushing the boundaries on one person's individual rights pushes the boundaries on yours too.

At least we don't have Bush Infatuation Syndrome, which is much, much worse given the reality of things.

I live in fear that someone somewhere might pull my public library checkout records.

I'm willing to acknowledge he's been a mixed bag as president, and history will likely remember him as being quite average. But the hyperbole in this thread is truly amusing.

I voted for him twice and gave him money. I feel like I must be critical of management when asked to give an honest assement, as any good shareholder would.

Yours is one of the best examples, 8ball. He didn't really want to be president? Do you seriously believe that? Heh. And that is in your top 3 of why he's a "horrible" president?

abridged? Assuming you don't communicate with terrorists regularly, that is.

I really don't, no.

But what's your take, Tex? Seriously. I get pissed talking to other R on the web, because they're almost never honest in their criticism of Bush. We're not on the Hannity show here. He screwed up. Which is no sin. But to not make a course correction for FOUR years, in the face of the screw-up, is a sin. If he were the CEO of a Fortune 500, he would have been canned.
