Default Academy Award Nominations

Best Picture Nominees:

Juno
There Will Be Blood
No Country For Old Men
Michael Clayton
Atonement

I've only seen Michael Clayton. Great flick. I loved every minute of it. Taut dialogue and a great ending.

I'll probably get around to seeing Juno this weekend.

I'd like to see No Country and Blood,,,and have zero desire to see Atonement.

Atonement was a terrific novel. Haven't seen the movie yet.

I see Johnny Depp is up for best actor again. Ever since the first Pirates film, his name has become a staple in that category.

I just looked at Oscars.com and the only movie I have seen from any of the nominees is Rataouille. Suprisingly, the other two movies I saw in a theater last year, Underdog and Fantastic Four, were not nominated for anything.

I watched "Atonement" on the plane. I liked it.

I also watched "The Savages" with Philip Seymour Hoffman and Laura Linney. That was good as well.

Oddly, both have characters with vascular dementia. I wonder if that's a sign from God.

I've seen everyone of those films except Juno.

I'm trying to decide which gets the nod between No Country and Blood.

In the end, I think it goes to Blood based on what will be remembered as one of the all-time great performances by an actor.

I saw Atonement over the weekend, and it was very good. I've seen all the 2007 Academy Award nominees and would rate them:

1. There Will Be Blood
2. Michael Clayton
3. Atonement
4. No Country
5. Juno

Not much separation in the top three for me, I could have ranked them as tie for #1.

Mine are

1. There will be blood
2. No country for old men
3. Juno
4. Michael Clayton
5. Atonement

For me, there is huge gap between 2 and 3. Michael Clayton was competent, but not a lot more. Atonement was forgettable. Juno was competent as well.
