Default Mitt Romney campaiging for '12

He had an editorial opinion in the Times, saying that the Big 3 should be allowed to go bankrupt.

Of course, when he was campaigning in Michigan, his tenor seemed to be "we'll do whatever it takes to save your jobs."

Minor detail. We can forgive a man for wanting the nomination in a bad way. Heaven knows, I have done much worse.

Your characterization is inaccurate, inflammatory and silly.

I have nothing against the guy. I tend to favor the idea of not bailing out the Big 3.

To some degree, flip-flopping is part of a politician's job.

Wow, what an awful way to live. Trying to be popular and loved.

I'm at a tender age still, and I'm proud that I have taken unpopular positions and said things that are true, but hard to hear, which have effectively destroyed any chance I ever had of being a politician. Not that I would want to be one.

I stand for change we don't want to believe in.

Go back and read what he said while campaigning in Michigan. Why did he do well there? His mantra was one of not bailing the big 3 out but encouraging change in the big 3 ... incentives to adapt and really compete ... that's what motivated the voter base.

Romney appears to be a top notch manager, and a sub par politician. To be a great president, you must be great at both.

If he's ever going to make it in the rough and tumble world of politics, he's going to have to show that he can do the latter as well as the former.

It's hard to believe he's called the Flipflop King.

Why are the two mutually exclusive (saving jobs and reorganizing the Big Three)?

Twenty five years ago there were 1.5MM UAW workers. Today there is less than 500K – the lowest number since WWII and it's only going lower, with or without the loan.

Someone has to burn that house down, in order to save it.

Somewhat related...there is no question BHO desires a honeymoon, but it makes me smile when Ds pander to Big Union with no noise and when Rs pander to Big Oil it's the end of the world, Teapot Dome II, etc.

I actually totally agree with you. We were discussing this here the other day. I don't think we need to prop up what is clearly an unviable industry. I think Mitt has the right idea when he says that we transition this into something forward driven instead of continuing to try to make a clumsy twentieth-century dinosaur fit into a twenty-first century worold.

Welcome to French Socialism, Obama style. His constant pandering to the old guard left of the Democratic Party, as well as his acquiescence in the selection of Clintonites is disturbing.

Prop up a dead and unviable industry? Okay.

Bring in a bunch of deadwood from the Clinton administration? Okay.

Hey moron, Romney's argument is that letting them go bankrupt will be better for the Big 3 in the long run, and thus save more jobs this way too. Geez...we know you don't like the guy, but at least don't be such a jackass about it.
